25 May-22 Jun 2026 12:00 AWST (Govt media statement + MedCareersWA). Up to 3 site preferences. Key dates now PDF-only on publicstorage.dc2.pageuppeople.com. PATCH 2026-09-13: the three missing milestones come from a candidate's verbatim quote of the MedCareersWA suitability-pool email of 10 Aug 2026 - 'First offers round - from 17 August 2026 (candidates 1st preference hospital gets first opportunity); General offers round - from 7 September 2026 (any hospital - 2nd/3rd preference, etc.); Final cutoff - 12:00PM AWST, Friday 11 September 2026. No offer by this deadline means the pool has closed and the application is unsuccessful' (https://www.reddit.com/r/ausjdocs/comments/1uv2lde/wa_rmosmr_campaign_2027/p2rrul1/) - corroborated by 14 independent offer reports from 17 Aug (PCH day one, KEMH 21 Aug, SJOG interview 14 Aug then offer, FSH 26 Aug, WACHS 28 Aug). Assessment/selection period 13 Jul - 7 Aug 2026 and referee-report deadline 23 Jul 2026 also have no field. THE POOL CUT-OFF HAS NO FIELD IN THIS SCHEMA: 12:00 AWST Friday 11 Sep 2026, and it was extended by email on 9 Sep 2026 - the seed needs a closes_pool_at (or equivalent) column, because in WA 'no offer by the cut-off' is the rejection. First-offers round moved a week earlier than CY2026 (25 Aug 2025), which the community did not notice for three days. Incidents

  • Referee reports arriving after the Notification of Outcomes were refused — 'the reference check period is now closed for further requests' — while the applicant was already in the suitable pool. Separately, several applicants were placed in the suitable pool with no referee reports completed at all, which made the role of referee reports in the ranking unclear to applicants. (12 Aug 2026) comment ↗ 2 ↗
  • WA switched the first-offer date a week earlier for CY2027 (17 Aug 2026 vs 25 Aug 2025) without the community noticing in advance, producing three days of 'either we've all been rejected or there's some kind of delay' before metro offers actually landed. (20 Aug 2026) comment ↗
  • The stated hard pool-closure deadline (12:00PM AWST, Fri 11 Sep 2026) was extended by email on 9 Sep 2026, two days before it fell. (9 Sept 2026) comment ↗

How the WA cycle actually works, in 7 mechanics from r/ausjdocs (not policy)
Three site preferences into one pool lore 12 authors
One MedCareersWA application with up to three site preferences at RMO and/or SMR level. The centralised step produces a 'suitability pool' outcome, not a job: being deemed suitable only means your application is released to your first-preference site, which then decides whether to interview or offer. Unsuccessful-at-first-preference applications then flow into a general pool visible to 2nd and 3rd preference sites.
Two dated offer rounds and a hard cut-off official 9 authors
A first-offers round in which only the first-preference hospital may offer, then a general-offers round three weeks later for any site, then a stated pool-closure deadline with a time and timezone (12:00PM AWST, Friday 11 September 2026 for CY2027). No offer by the cut-off = unsuccessful. The cut-off is the only published hard deadline of its kind in any jurisdiction — and in 2026 it was extended by email two days before it fell.
Most sites do not interview lore 10 authors
Metro sites generally make direct offers off the written application; WACHS regional sites and Perth Children's Hospital interview, and St John of God Midland has used one-way video interviews. 'WA does not do interview, the selection is based on your application only' is the community's default assumption and is right more often than not.
Referee checks happen early and then close lore 8 authors
Referees are contacted within days of submission, before any interview, and the portal never shows whether they replied — the only way to know is to ask the referee. Once the Notification of Outcomes is sent, the reference-check period closes for further requests, so a late referee cannot be repaired.
Portal status wording lore 7 authors
'Application received' → 'Application under assessment/review' → suitability-pool email. Rejections are not sent until all rounds are finished, and a status still reading 'Application received' during the offers round means the first preference has not yet acted.
Prior Australian experience screen lore 2 authors · single report
Feedback emails to unsuccessful IMGs cite the absence of at least 6 months of Australian hospital experience in the past 3 years, alongside a list of ~26 recognised countries of prior practice.
Mid-year pool lore 11 authors
A separate mid-year campaign opens in January for August starts, running the same suitability-pool → first-preference offers → general round → pool closure sequence on a compressed calendar.

Dots are the median stated date of the hand-read reports the encoders matched to that campaign, weighted by how many comments said so; where none were matched, the median posting date of comments saying a campaign for that state opened, closed, interviewed or offered in the same calendar year — a sanity check on the official date, not a date. Dates drift a week or two each year.

"Usually closes" is the modal month and its share; under three ads and we don't call it. An ad re-advertised three times counts three times. Outside NSW the record starts when we began scraping each portal.
