Recruitment calendar

One timeline per state for the cycle running now; solid is a date from a live or archived campaign page, dashed is our projection from last year, and the dots are what r/ausjdocs reported. Each campaign opens for its dates, source and caveat. 9 campaign rows in all (7 confirmed). Subscribe (.ics).

How the SA cycle actually works, in 5 mechanics from r/ausjdocs (not policy)
Central EOI with preferences lore 2 authors · single report
One SA MET expression of interest on SA Health Careers with a small number of program preferences; the resume and references collected by SA MET are widely believed by applicants not to be read at the screening stage, with the program-level assessment doing the work.
Shortlist then program interview lore 2 authors · single report
Shortlisting notifications and interview requests land in late July / early August; candidates can be shortlisted for more than one program (e.g. TAPPP and General Training) at once.
TAPPP is the de facto psychiatry entry lore 6 authors
The statewide prevocational psychiatry program (TAPPP) is treated as the route onto SA psychiatry training — 'essentially a fancy unaccredited position' — but is not a guarantee, and taking it tends to lock you in Adelaide until Stage 2.
Anaesthetics runs on its own clock lore 6 authors
SANTRATS (the rotational anaesthetics scheme) recruits separately from the PGY2+ EOI, with two intakes a year; shortlisting from late August, interviews early September, rejections mid-September. Independent/service registrar anaesthetics jobs are advertised ad hoc on SA Health Careers all year and are searched for by program name, not by job title.
SA publishes its own allocation statistics lore 3 authors
SA MET publishes annual allocation reports by priority category — the only jurisdiction where applicants routinely cite official supply/demand data back at each other.

2028SA MET centralised PGY2+ expression of interestmainexpectedsamet.org.auBased on 4 previous years (2023–2026 EOIs opened 10–14 Jun, closed 1–6 Jul); recruitment-cycles.md: 'EOIs open in June' annually [C]; offers mid-Sep in rounds; late vacancy from late Oct.
2026SANTRATS - SA/NT Rotational Anaesthesia Training Schememain2 Sept 2025expectedreddit.comSANTRATS has no row in the seed at all. Community (3 reports, https://www.reddit.com/r/ausjdocs/comments/1n6d6la/): shortlisting flagged from 22 Aug 2025, interview invites out 2 Sep 2025, rejection letters 15 Sep 2025; a further report of no SANTRATS interview on 20 Sep 2025 (https://www.reddit.com/r/ausjdocs/comments/1nlrfls/sa_critical_care_jobs_l/). It runs on its own clock with two intakes a year and closes 2-3 weeks after going live, so a fixed annual window should not be assumed; a round had 'just closed' by 4 Apr 2025 (https://www.reddit.com/r/ausjdocs/comments/1jqzc4o/). Official mechanism (ANZCA, https://www.anzca.edu.au/education-and-training/anaesthesia-training-and-pathways/anaesthesia-training-program/anaesthesia-training-sites-and-rotations/accredited-training-sites-south-australia-and-northern-territory): SA Health advertises the positions on the SA Health careers site and ANZCA mirrors them on the SANTRATS page - so the scrapable campaign lives on SA Health Careers, not on samet.org.au. Community also reports it favours SA/NT applicants and that independent/service anaesthetics registrar jobs appear on SA Health Careers all year and must be searched by program name, not job title.

Dots are the median stated date of the hand-read reports the encoders matched to that campaign, weighted by how many comments said so; where none were matched, the median posting date of comments saying a campaign for that state opened, closed, interviewed or offered in the same calendar year — a sanity check on the official date, not a date. Dates drift a week or two each year.

When ads actually closed

Closing months of 28 closed PGY2+ listings since 2023, by employer and specialty

"Usually closes" is the modal month and its share; under three ads and we don't call it. An ad re-advertised three times counts three times. Outside NSW the record starts when we began scraping each portal.
