When do the RMO and registrar campaigns open in each state?

Late May to early August, one central window per state, and they do not overlap neatly. For the 2026 campaign (2027 clinical year): WA and TAS 25 May 56, QLD 1 June 3, SA 10 June 4, NSW main round 14 July 1, VIC's PMCV match 27 July 2. Every date moves a week or two each year.

One window per jurisdiction, and they are staggered. These are the 2026 dates for the 2027 clinical year — the months are stable, the days drift every intake. WA's centralised RMO/SMR pool ran 25 May – 22 Jun 5 and Tasmania's statewide RMO campaign the same fortnight 6. Queensland's RMO & Registrar campaign opened 1 Jun 09:00 and closed 29 Jun 15:00 3. SA MET's PGY2+ EOI ran 10 Jun – 1 Jul 4 and the NT's two regional campaigns 1–28 Jun 8. NSW splits: critical care 22 Jun – 6 Jul, then the main round (medicine, surgery, psych, path, radiology, RMO) 14 Jul – 4 Aug 1. Victoria's PMCV PGY2 Match is last, 27 Jul – 21 Aug with results 23 Sep 2. The ACT is the outlier — registrars 29 Jun – 2 Aug but RMO and Service SRMO not until 31 Aug – 27 Sep 7.

Offers run a month or two behind close. QLD registrar/PHO offers began 3 Aug 2026 and JHO/SHO offers late Sep 3; NSW's were published as late Aug – Oct 1; SA's first round was 17 Sep 4.

What the calendar does not show you. The competitive PGY3 feeder jobs — critical care HMO3, surgical stream, paediatric JRMO — are advertised directly by health services from April, months before any central campaign opens 8. If you wait for the campaign you have already missed them.

The community's correction is not about dates at all. The most-upvoted advice in the 2026 campaign megathread is that no CV survives a single application 9, and the same thread carries the warning that Queensland's form emails your referees the moment you save that page, not when you submit 9. Miss a deadline and you are not finished — people talk their way into Queensland ED jobs year-round 9.

In Queensland they don't send out JHO / SHO offers until September.
