Joondalup health campus (non tertiary but still very much WA metro-y) offers pgy2 critical care year with anaesthetics icu!

They all used to be open to all candidates but I think now SCGH/FSH only hire internal RMOs.
I've heard along the grapevine that SCGH offers a few coveted spots for interns to undertake an anesthetics term, and that if you're successful its an excellent predictor of getting onto training down the track.

Joondalup Health Campus is quite a chill hospital to work in if you want to have a quieter / easier rotation.

SCGH has been one of the most popular choices to work at due to the extensive efforts in improving junior doctors wellbeing and it definitely is well reflected as SCGH had a overflow of applications in both intern and RMO for 2024!
I'm currently a JMO at Charlies and I've found the overall culture, as well as rostering, staffing and access to leave to be fantastic.

SCGH over the last few years has had the highest pass rate for BPT (from what I’ve heard) with 100% pass rate this year for Written exams.
SCGH also has an insanely high BPT pass rate if that’s your thing.

Charlies was most popular because of the new initiatives in place to access overtime and leave, Royal Perth has implemented those along with other aspects of the “East Experience” and will likely be a lot more popular this year.
Given how small the medical community in WA is, the gentle competition between the three has actually improved the overall conditions for most JMOs across the state (ie Charlie’s brining in automatically approved overtime and then RPH matching it almost immediately, fearing people were going to jump ship)
