I don’t know about the specific culture in psychiatry at Toowoomba, but I have heard overall the culture at Toowoomba hospital is very supportive.
If you find a place with a supportive culture (two with good recommendations and reputations are Cairns and Toowoomba) then it is possible.

I'd love to set up somewhere smaller like Coffs Harbour, Toowoomba, Wagga, Orange, Christchurch, Wellington etc and not move around whilst unaccredited, obviously that changes if you get on and you'll be rotated within the training hub and that's fine, but keen to hear if anyone has heard it working out for…
A bit of context, I am a 30F doctor from Ireland (but South Asian myself) currently PGY 2 doing Psych SHO year in Toowoomba.

Cairns, Townsville , Mackay, Toowoomba, Mt Isa all offer spots.
Half those that applied didn't get an offer so they are unlikely to permit a transfer unless you agree to either the darling Downs or complete a term in Northern Queensland.
Toowoomba and Cairns come to mind as well rounded departments that see a wide range of presentations (including trauma) and (imo) have good teaching and supportive consultants.
Toowoomba sounds like a fantastic training hospital but can’t speak directly to culture - it’s not exactly SEQ though as it’s a 2hr drive from Brisbane.

I’d recommend Toowoomba and Cairns as well rounded regional hospitals that do a bit of trauma but I haven’t worked there.
