Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The MCV determines in excess of 200,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, dealing with over 90 percent of all adult cases that come before Victorian courts each year.

About the Role

Join the Magistrates' Court of Victoria as a Registrar and play a vital role in delivering fair, efficient, and accessible justice to the community. This is a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, exercises sound judgement, and is committed to public service excellence.

As a Registrar, you will undertake a diverse range of responsibilities, including court-based proceedings, client services, administrative functions, and the exercise of statutory powers. No two days are the same as you work collaboratively with judicial officers, legal practitioners, Victoria Police, the Office of Public Prosecutions, court users, and members of the public.

Key responsibilities:

Perform in-court duties, including bench clerk functions.

Provide high-quality service to court users via telephone and counter enquiries.

Prepare, process, and manage administrative and statutory documentation.

Exercise discretionary quasi-judicial and statutory powers in accordance with relevant legislation, Court rules, precedents, and Practice Directions.

Lead, coach, and support registry staff to achieve operational excellence.

Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About You

Applicants must be a Deputy Registrar who has successfully completed the MCV Trainee Court Registrar Program. You will be a highly effective communicator (both verbal and written) and possess solid understanding of the Court's protocols and procedures.

Your other strengths will include:

Strong interpersonal skills and effective team player

Commitment to delivering quality services

Leadership qualities and willingness to develop team leadership experience

Certificate IV in Government (Court Services) or equivalent
