Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Speciality Surgical Registrar (Vascular) to join our growing on a full time (1.0EFT) fixed term until 06 February 2028.

The Speciality Surgical Registrar (Vascular) provides high‑quality clinical care to patients within the Speciality Surgery service predominantly focusing on Vascular speciality but will cover Thoracics, Urology and ENT. Working closely with Consultants, Interns and HMOs, the role is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge planning of patients across elective and emergency surgical services.

This position plays an important role in delivering safe, patient‑centred care while supporting the education and development of junior medical staff, contributing to clinical audit activities and participating in the ongoing improvement of surgical services.

The role of the Speciality Surgical Registrar (Vascular) is to:

Provide day‑to‑day management of patients within the General Surgery service, including ward rounds, clinical reviews and coordination of patient care.

Respond to surgical referrals, emergencies and on‑call responsibilities, ensuring timely assessment and escalation of care where required.

Participate in operating theatre lists and assist in the delivery of elective and emergency surgical services.

Support and supervise Interns, HMOs and medical students through education, mentoring and clinical guidance.

Coordinate and contribute to surgical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, pathology meetings and imaging rounds to support quality improvement.

Participate in clinical research, service development and initiatives that promote effective communication and collaboration across the surgical division.

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

MBBS (or equivalent) and eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Strong clinical assessment, decision‑making and patient management skills appropriate to your level of training.

The ability to work effectively in a busy surgical environment, managing competing priorities and on‑call responsibilities.

A commitment to teaching, professional development, quality improvement and evidence‑based practice.

Excellent organisational skills and a collaborative approach to delivering safe, patient‑centred care.
