For context I'm a PYG4 RMO who has done 2 previous JMO terms and have a reasonable understanding of fundamentals and basics - continuing to brush up with eyewiki, wills eye manual + Westmead eye manual and attending the reg teachings over the past few weeks!
Eg: Westmead is a cardio powerhouse but they're notorious for leaving their internals in the lurch and having unaccredited hell (multiple years where you dont get on).
If you are good and they can't accomodate you at Westmead (they don't take many onto Anaesthetics training straight from SRMO, and truthfully it's probably not the best place for ITs), they will usually try and help you get a job elsewhere.
Laughs in Westmead JMO 0800-2300 + on call for night shift + night shift call in sick + oh wait night shift was never actually hired + ohai HETI investigation.
For context, I applied for an RMO general rotations position and I am paeds keen so I’m still aiming for Westmead in the long run, however would just like to prepare myself if I ever get accepted to know what I’m getting myself into.

You will become competent at blacktown due to unsupported work with poor staffing whilst at westmead you will be supported sith good staffing but it will still be fucked.
Westmead is also busy, but the JMOs are well supported.
There is no such thing as a Westmead BPT for they are BPT, then AT, then consultant all in the same, blended together.
WSLHD, SWSLHD are notorious for how busy they are, patients come in sick, poor SE status and health awareness, poorly resourced, the job is hard and all of us are run off our feet trying to do our best, so bosses are also in various stages of burnout, departmental health reflects that.
Westmead known to have more issues with bullying JMOs and administrative dysfunction.
Westmead is by a wide margin the worst hospital I have ever worked in.
Typical successful application in NSW would have HETI westmead physics course, something showing competence in anatomy (doing well in GSSE would probably count), and some time working in radiology (could be IR/INR or nuke med SRMO).
Despite a lower passing rate, Westmead BPT still has most people pass the first time and by the 2nd attempt the vast majority have passed.

- all nsw health hospitals pay the same for the same contracted positions, so Westmead interns and Dubbo interns have the same hourly rate.
Blacktown is fine - you'll do a bunch of overtime but you'll get paid for it all.

It will relocate, as is the case with Westmead and Cumberland, to maintain safety of care and safety of supervision.
Trying to make a decision between a Scheme VIC Regional (VRTN) offer and Indep NSW Trainee offer (metro peripheral - SWSLHD/WSLHD).

I have heard from others Westmead and StG RMO interview offers are out
I’ve received a rejection email for Blacktown UA registrar so I assume interview offers are out.
