I'd love to set up somewhere smaller like Coffs Harbour, Toowoomba, Wagga, Orange, Christchurch, Wellington etc and not move around whilst unaccredited, obviously that changes if you get on and you'll be rotated within the training hub and that's fine, but keen to hear if anyone has heard it working out for…

I’ve always been a city dweller but my eyes were opened after doing an 8 week placement in Orange for my Universities rural hub program.

While the number of students now is adequate, current medical schools should simply lift the share of rural-origin students and lock them into longitudinal rural programs like the University of Sydney Dubbo Stream/ University of Melbourne Rural Pathway/ Monash End-to-End Rural Cohort.

The painful part of it all is that I had a Bathurst ICU/Anaesthetics Registrar job offer which I declined because I wasn't financially ready to take on a rural job (Sydney mortgage, family circumstances) and also nervous about taking on a senior role in a state/service I haven't worked before.
