Haha all jokes aside, there’s quite a few Paeds terms for PGY1 at many of the hospitals, I think all 3 tertiaries in WA offer a Paeds secondment term, RPH defintely offers a few different matrixes with Paeds terms so there’s lots on offer
My husband has just accepted a job at SCGH, but I was hoping to apply for an ED job at RPH or FSH as I’ve heard they’re more supportive.

Not sure which hospital you’ve been offered for WA internship as that will massively change the advice as some of them like FSH let u pick and choose each individual rotation so u can make your perfect matrix, whereas others like RPH have predetermined 5 term matrixes.
Might hijack this - Live very close to FSH (under 10 mins drive in morning traffic), but found pretty bad teaching culture and loved RPH.

Charlies was most popular because of the new initiatives in place to access overtime and leave, Royal Perth has implemented those along with other aspects of the “East Experience” and will likely be a lot more popular this year.
I would love to hear from anyone who has worked in this position who could shed some light on working hours, annual leave and pay - also would love to get in touch with anyone working or who will be working at Royal Perth next year - need to start forming a network!

RPH similarly has had good senior leadership and has always had a nice culture, but is a busy and at times difficult place to work.
I can’t speak for RPH but for SCGH I feel that there has been a culture shift over the last 3 or so years.

Again run by each individual hospital ICU (FSH, RPH, SCGH) with the preference often given to their ICU resis and registrars, but with chucking your name on a waitlist

The most enjoyed ED term in WA in this corpus — 'a great term for getting the ropes', multiple terms 'really enjoyable' — though most of the praise comes from one author, so treat it as one strong review plus two neutral mentions.
