I actually took a pay cut going from casual orderly to 1st year RN (in qld health, 6 years ago, your mileage may vary)
No hate to nurses here (good for them), but can’t we at least get parity of penalties between QLD health employees… I know there are bigger issues with noctors, training bottlenecks, etc.

My partner is a PHO working at QLD Health, has worked 6 days straight, with 4 days in a row doing 3-4 hours overtime and the last 2 days being 12h shifts with 4 hours overtime, meaning she is working close to 80 hours this week.

It is also frustrating to see this pay offer given QLD Health are bringing in the physician assistant role, which has base pay equivalent to a PGY4 registrar!

Recently there has been a proposal to employ Physician Assistants in teaching hospitals by Queensland Health.
Generally speaking QLD health is much more better pay and much more supportive when it comes to administration.
Work for Queensland health and they pay for your move and there are bigger bonuses if you go rural or depending on your level.
To my understanding , remuneration in QLD health is approximately 15-20 % higher than VIC at base pay if you include all the allowance/ super.

I was initially approved for two such exams this term for my Masters Degree, however med admin called me on Friday to tell me that my exam leave was no longer approved, as QLD health only offer exam leave for approved Fellowship exams, and that I can take PDL for this purpose instead.
Just wanted to say had a similar CV to you, minimal path specific stuff but passed BPS, observership + conferences, had pathology mentors/referees and didn’t even get an interview in QLD Health!

Queensland health tend to reply very quick for you and if you miss first round of internship, there're always second round of internship.
From what I understand, the Queensland Health internship applications close on 5th June, and it seems I may need to sit the AMC MCQ assessment beforehand, am I correct in assuming that this is a requirement for someone in my situation?
