If you love being in Sydney, it really doesn't matter what Logan Hospital or a move to QLD can offer.
Just received an email with an offer to do internship in 2024 at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
Been given the opportunity to work as an RMO for the renal team at Logan in Queensland.
I worked at Logan for 2 years (intern and JHO) overall I generally enjoyed it and found majority of the SMOs to be super supportive and reasonable.
Logan has full year SHOs and 6 month JHO positions (the department there is excellent at supporting people to get on), GCUH has a few, as do IPH and SCUH.
There was a time in the mid 2010’s when Metro North and Metro South in QLD conducted an audit of Consultant Surgeons based on overtime requests, oncall lists, correlated with carpark entry and exits.
Logan - sounds like a shit show in ED but great teaching.
Despite the crazy nature of the PAH the reg’s I’ve had have been very supportive as they have all been there.

PAH work culture rumours filter down to Victoria so that says something.
I absolutely hate to defend Logan ED, if I was working there and needed to go to ED I would get in the car and drive elsewhere.

Don't care about coffee, I just want somewhere to park my car where I neither have to pay (Mater/PAH) nor risk getting fined because there's a 2H limit outside of hospital and hospital overflow parking that is ALWAYS full (everywhere else) and my work days are 12-16 hours long.
I heard regs were being flogged for crazy overtime, but that's at both PAH and Gcuh.

The plus side of a Coastal rotation is that Redland or Logan hospitals considered your “rural” term.
